  It is believed that the   English Cocker Spaniel   was originally developed as an animal for hunting, but its calm, patient and pleasant disposition makes it a great pet for families. There are two types of Cocker Spaniels that are available: field and Show. Field breeds are typically thin, while show dogs are bulkier and heavy. Cocker Spaniels are emaciated with long ears which are close to the head. Their top line must rise gradually from shoulders towards the tailbone.
