A ragdoll cat has a long, muscular body, a broad chest, a short neck, and strong legs. They distinguish themselves from the competition with their fantastic plush, silky, dense, semi-length to long hair and gorgeous blue eyes.

Their faces appear more significant than their medium-sized heads because of their fur. With a long, bushy tail that measures between 9 and 11 inches, this cat breed is strongly boned. They typically weigh 10–20 pounds and measure 17–21 inches in length (without their fluffy tail).

According to the Ragdoll Fanciers Club, there are five ragdoll coat patterns: colourpoint, bicolour, mitted, lynx point, and tortie point. Each coat pattern offers various colours, including black, white, grey, blue, cream, lilac, chocolate, seal, and red.

Ragdolls make good housemates because they are laid-back, affectionate, and easygoing. Their incredibly dedicated and loyal personality makes them impossible to refuse. These gentle cats adore and seek human contact, yet they rarely make a demand for it.

These cats are quiet and won't make much noise, but they will emit little, charming meows and beeps to let you know they need food or affection. Even your children would feel happy around them because they are well-mannered and amenable.

Background information Ann Baker, a breeder in California who established the ragdoll breed in the 1960s, looked for cats with a special appearance and gentle disposition. 

To create her foundation Ragdolls, Anne employed an Angora-type cat, a seal-mitted male (white gloves and boots over a Siamese-type colour), and a solid black cat.

Although they might have been a hybrid of several distinct breeds, Josephine, a white cat, is recognised as the first Ragdoll. Ragdolls are also referred to as Josephine's daughters as a result.
